The 2nd edition of the AFAS Summer School will take place at ZEF, Bonn, Germany from August 26 to September 6, 2024, and bring together twenty-one Master’s and two PhD students from various West and East African countries in Germany from the AFAS program. This time, we are pleased to also host three Master’s students from TRAJECTS (the Transnational Centre for Just Transitions in Energy, Climate and Sustainability), another DAAD Global Centre for Climate and Environment. Together, they will participate in a comprehensive activity program. 

Participants will have the opportunity to gain invaluable insights from a distinguished line-up of speakers, each bringing unique perspectives and expertise to the event. Thus, the Summer School will be featuring a blend of lectures and workshops. 

A highlight of the program is the student symposium on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, where students will present their thesis topics, providing a platform for innovative academic exchange on Nature-based Solutions (NbS). In addition, participants will spend two days at the Global South Studies Center (GSSC) in Cologne, engage in an excursion to explore NbS around Bonn and visit institutions such as the UNCCD and UNU-EHS.
